The mission of the Department of Computer Science is

• To provide its students with:

      - a culture that actively involves them inside and outside the classroom that will enable them to succeed and thrive as computer scientists and in society.

• To advance the field of computer science by supporting its faculty and students with a culture that:

      - encourages exemplary, internationally recognized research,

      - involves graduate and undergraduate students,

      - fosters internal and external collaboration, and attracts external funding.

• To serve as a leading model of education by collaborating with local, national, and international communities to develop, refine, apply, and transfer approaches to education that encourage students to pursue their education to their full potential.
